Co-Admission Program with Lower Columbia College

LCC students—you can be pre-admitted to WSU Vancouver.

Under the Co-Admission Program, you can be pre-admitted to WSU Vancouver for a future term while being admitted for a current term at Lower Columbia College (LCC) in Longview, Washington.

The Co-Admission Program is only for Lower Columbia College students who plan to complete their bachelor’s degrees at WSU Vancouver. Co-admission may be granted in two ways:

Track A

If you have fewer than 60 quarter (40 semester) credits of transferable coursework, you may be co-admitted as a transfer student to WSU Vancouver while continuing your studies at Lower Columbia College.

Track B

If you meet WSU's first-year admission criteria, you may be co-admitted at the beginning of your first year.

  • Advising from both institutions
  • Access to campus services at both institutions
  • Degree program requirements locked in for eight years

How do I get started with the Co-Admission Program?

Decide whether you qualify for Track A or Track B (see below) and then submit a Co-Admission Program application form to the LCC Admissions Office if you are pursuing Track A, and to the WSU Vancouver Office of Admissions if you are pursuing Track B.

To request a Co-Admission Program application form, contact the WSU Vancouver Office of Admissions at 360-546-9779 or van.admissions@wsu.edu.

What is the difference between Track A and B?

To be eligible for Track A, students must meet WSU's transfer admission requirements:

  • 40 – 60 completed quarter hours of transferable college-level coursework at the time you apply for co-admission. Students with more than 60 completed quarter hours of transferable college-level coursework are not eligible for co-admission and should follow standard WSU transfer application procedures. Students with fewer than 40 completed quarter hours are eligible for Track B.
  • Minimum 2.5 cumulative unweighted GPA on a 4.0 scale. Note that some WSU degrees will have higher GPA entrance requirements. If your cumulative college GPA is less than 2.5, your application will be considered only as space allows.

To be eligible for Track B, students must meet WSU's first-year admission requirements.

Can I apply for Track A at any point during my enrollment at LCC?

No. You must complete at least 40 quarter hours but less than 60 quarter hours of transferable coursework before you can apply.

Can a Running Start student participate in this program?

Yes, you can apply for co-admission in the fall of your senior year of high school. You will be required to meet WSU's first-year admission requirements (Track B) regardless of how many college credits you accumulate while in Running Start.

What if I do not qualify for either Track A or B?

  • If you have over 60 quarter credits, apply to WSU Vancouver with a regular admission application. Contact the WSU Vancouver Office of Admissions for application procedures and deadlines.
  • If you have less than an unweighted 2.5 GPA on a 4.0 scale on your college-level work (40–60 quarter credits), you can work with your advisor to raise your GPA and subsequently apply to Track A.
  • If you do not meet WSU's first-year admission requirements (Track B) and/or have not completed 40 quarter hours of college coursework (Track A), you will need to wait and apply for co-admission after successfully completing 40 quarter credits.

Official requirements and regulations

This information is a guide to the admission process, not a statement of policy. Review the WSU General Catalog for official requirements and regulations.

Track A requirements

You are considered a transfer student if you have transferable credit from a regionally accredited post-secondary institution (not counting Running Start).

  1. You must have earned at least 27 semester hours (40 quarter hours) from another university or community college.
  2. You must have a minimum unweighted 2.5 GPA on a 4.0 scale. Note that some degree programs have higher GPA requirements.

Students who have earned the approved transfer associate degree from a Washington community college or the Associate of Arts-Oregon Transfer from an Oregon community college will generally be granted junior standing at the University with all lower-division General Education Requirements (GERs) met.* Students are encouraged to work with the appropriate WSU department to plan a transfer program that incorporates the prerequisites for certification to the department. Washington community college students should also become familiar with WSU's Transfer Guide for that college. Transfer Guide equivalency information is available on the web.

*Certain approved associate degrees from Arizona, California, Hawaii and Idaho also are considered to have fulfilled the lower-division GERs for graduation. For details on specific degrees, consult the Office of Admissions. Students transferring without the approved associate degree will be granted credit based on a course-by-course review of their transcript(s).

College-level work completed at institutions which are regionally accredited is given appropriate credit upon transfer to WSU. The maximum transfer credit allowed from an accredited two-year-community college is 60 semester (90 quarter) hours toward a baccalaureate degree irrespective of when those credits were earned. The maximum allowable credit toward a four-year degree from a four-year institution or from a combination of all institutions is 90 semester (135 quarter) hours.

Transfer students are encouraged to meet with a WSU Vancouver admissions counselor at for an unofficial evaluation of their transcripts.
