About Kelly

Kelly Zen-Yie Tsai is an award-winning, spoken-word poet, playwright and filmmaker whose work has been featured at more than 500 venues worldwide including the White House, the Apollo Theater, the Kennedy Center and three seasons of HBO Def Poetry. Throughout her evolution as a writer, performer, filmmaker and multidisciplinary theater artist, Kelly strives to broaden the impact and reach of spoken-word poetry in its efforts to transform political realities, revolutionize arts and entertainment, and empower audiences across the globe. Kelly has shared stages with Mos Def, KRS-One, Sonia Sanchez, Erykah Badu, Jill Scott, Talib Kweli, DMX, Michael Eric Dyson, Wyclef Jean, Tracy Morgan, Amiri Baraka, Harry Belafonte, Tyra Banks, Drake and many more.

Join Poet Kelly Zen-Yie Tsai as she takes us through a lyrical journey across America where race, class, culture, sexuality and gender aren't neatly defined, where times of war coexist within times of peace and where poetry still survives and thrives.
