Student Resource Center (SRC) Success Workshops

Come to free workshops designed to help you develop and refine the skills you will need to succeed in your classes and college. These workshops will build on and enhance skills that are working for you and help you develop new strategies to be more effective in your studying. They are strategies that will benefit all students, so plan time to take advantage.

SRC Supplemental Instruction Program (SI)

Several courses have SI available to students at no cost. SI leaders facilitate regularly scheduled group study sessions and have office hours. For more information on the Supplemental Instruction Program and a group study schedule, visit the website.

SRC Tutoring Services

The Student Resource Center (SRC), located on the lower level of the Student Services building, offers affordable tutoring services to current WSU Vancouver students in need of individual tutoring. The SRC provides assistance to students in a broad range of disciplines helping them understand course concepts and become more independent learners. The cost of SRC tutoring is $10 per 60-minute session and tutoring scholarships are available to those students who qualify. Visit the website to request a tutor or to apply to become a tutor.

Quantitative Skills Center (QSC) Math Lab (VUCB 102)

Free Drop-In Math Tutoring is available in the Quantitative Skills Center.

Writing Center (VLIB 203)

The free drop-in Writing Center provides face-to-face collaboration between a trained writing consultant and a student writer. The consultant and the student collaborate on global issues such as thesis, organization, development, logic, and citation, and local issues such as paragraphing, transitions, and sentence structure. Visit the website for hours of operation and other useful writing tools and resources. If students can’t come into the Writing Center in person, they may send their papers to the Writing Center at writingcenter@vancouver.wsu.edu. Students taking advantage of this service should expect a 24 to 48 hour response time during regularly scheduled hours of operation.

eTutoring

All WSU students have access to eTutoring’s free online professional tutoring services in the following areas:

  • Accounting

  • Math (Developmental through Calculus)
  • Spanish
  • Statistics
  • Writing
  • Web Development (xHTML, CSS, and Adobe Dreamweaver)

Live tutoring via eChat allows you to meet with a tutor in one-on-one tutoring sessions via a fully interactive, virtual online environment. The Online Writing Lab allows you to submit a draft of your paper to a tutor, ask for specific feedback, and receive your work back with a tutor’s response within 24 to 48 hours. Tutors are online at different times, so check the online schedule to see when a tutor will be available for you. To use this service go to http://etutoring.org and click on the “Login Now!” link. Choose “Northwest eTutoring Consortium,” then choose Washington State University from the list. In the login box, enter your Network ID and use “wsuonline” for the password. They will direct you to a page to set up an account.
