Academic reinstatement

Washington State University expects students to maintain academic standards of excellence and make satisfactory academic progress toward their degree objectives.

Undergraduate academic deficiency

Undergraduate students are in good academic standing if both their current WSU semester and cumulative grade point averages are 2.00 or above, and/or they are eligible to be enrolled.

Students not meeting this criteria are considered academically deficient and must apply for reinstatement.

Determine if you need reinstatement

  1. Check your grades in myWSU.

  2. Check for a message in myWSU. This message identifies the regulation under which you are deficient.

  3. Check your WSU email for a message from Vancouver Reinstatement. This message provides next steps for reinstatement.

Apply for academic reinstatement

The reinstatement application process is different for former students returning and continuing students. Review guidelines for the application process, personal statement topics, information for returning former students, current students and changes of campus. Learn about the reinstatement process and rules.
