Vancouver Nonresident Academic Achievement Award

Students talking outside by the fountain

We've put a little aside for your education. About $9,690 a year. And then some.

Save big money

If you're from outside Washington state and have top grades and test scores, you can get a dramatically reduced tuition rate at Washington State University. The Vancouver Nonresident Academic Achievement Award recognizes incoming freshmen and transfer students with exceptional academic ability.

Eligibility

A limited number of Vancouver Nonresident Achievement Awards will be offered on a first-come first-served basis. Students must meet all eligibility criteria.

Freshmen:

  • Nonresident status for tuition-paying purposes
  • 3.6 high school grade-point average (GPA)
  • 1170 SAT (taken March 2016 or after)* OR 24 ACT
  • Full-time enrollment

Transfers:

  • Nonresident status for tuition-paying purposes
  • 3.5 transfer GPA
  • Full-time enrollment

*Evidence-based Reading and Writing and Math sections (EBRW + M)

This award cannot combine with other waiver programs over the cost of tuition and fees.

Apply for the award

To apply for this award, just apply for admission to WSU Vancouver by the priority application date of January 31.

Renewing the award

To renew your award after the first year, you must meet all of the following eligibility requirements:

  • Maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher
  • Earn at least 24 graded credits per year (excluding summer)
  • Retain residency outside the state of Washington and be charged nonresident tuition

To calculate the value of your renewal scholarship, multiply resident tuition times 1.5, then subtract that amount from nonresident tuition. Because tuition rates vary annually, so will the amount of the award.
