We are so excited you chose to become a VanCoug! Maybe you’ve attended another pre-orientation program, or this is your first time stepping onto campus. No matter where you’re starting, the New Coug Orientation team is ready to help you connect, prepare and make the most of your first days at WSU Vancouver.

You’ll register through your FutureCoug Portal. Log in with your WSU credentials to reserve your spot.

All first-year and transfer students participate in New Coug Orientation. It’s designed to give you the tools, resources and connections to feel confident for your academic journey ahead.

Why participate in New Coug Orientation

New Coug Orientation helps you navigate campus life, build helpful study habits and feel more confident as you settle into your role as a VanCoug. You’ll experience:

  • Campus tours to familiarize yourself with classrooms, campus services and other key locations
  • Information sessions on academic expectations, study skills, and campus resources
  • Opportunities to meet fellow students, peer mentors, and staff
  • Guidance on course registration and advising
  • Insights into student clubs, events, extracurriculars and campus resources
  • Department open houses for transfer students to meet faculty and students in their major

Prepare before you arrive

Visit the New Coug Student Checklist for important steps to complete before orientation, including assessments, advising preparation and financial aid information.

You can explore your New Coug Learning Community before you arrive to see which majors are grouped together and who you might meet and study with.

International Students

New international students attending the WSU Vancouver campus are required to participate in International Student Orientation.
