New first-year students:
You will meet with an advisor prior to orientation to explore course options. You will register for classes during Vancouver New Coug Orientation.

First-year students with college credits (such as Running Start):
You will meet with an advisor prior to orientation. If you have more than 15 semester/22.5 quarter college credits, email the Orientation Team to learn about the next steps for transferring credits. Learn how to calculate how quarter credits transfer to semester credits. Note: AP credits do not count towards the college credit minimum. -
Transfer students:
In the spring before fall classes, you will receive an email from your advisor with instructions for how to schedule an advising appointment. You will then be able to register as early as May. You will attend a Vancouver New Coug Orientation session later in the summer. The same steps apply for spring classes, allowing you to register as early as November.
For spring:
First-year students: New Coug Orientation is a two-day schedule for first-year and Running Start students that takes place the week before the start of the spring semester.
Transfer students: New Coug Orientation is a one-day schedule that takes place the week before the start of the spring semester.
For fall:
First-year students: Vancouver New Coug Orientation is a two-day program that will take place over the course of the summer. Students are expected to attend orientation on both orientation days.
Transfer students: Vancouver New Coug Orientation is a one-day program that takes place over the course of the summer. All transfer students are expected to attend orientation.

The most important step in determining how to pay for college is to submit the FAFSA/WASFA. These financial aid applications determine your eligibility for federal and/or state financial aid, including grants that do not need to be paid back.
Submit the WSU General Scholarship Application by Jan. 31. By submitting this single application every year, you will be considered for many scholarships, including more than 100 just for WSU Vancouver students.

Turn in your final official transcripts from high school and/or each college you have attended, including credit as a Running Start student, to:

If you have credit that you would like shared with your academic advisor prior to registration, you may submit unofficial admissions documents online.
Please note—a WSU Network ID and password are required.
Most first-year students need to take the writing and math placement exams. These exams help place you in the right English and math classes for your major.
Exceptions:
- If you have already taken college-level math or English and have sent WSU Vancouver your official or unofficial college transcript (see above for how to submit transcripts). This includes credit taken as a Running Start student.
- If you have taken AP/IB math or writing, scored high enough to get ENGL or QUANT credit, and submitted an official AP score report. (Learn more about AP/IB credit)
- If your major does not require math. Learn more about which majors require math.
Once you start classes, your advisor and professors will only communicate with you using your WSU email address. Access your email using your network ID and password. You received an email (to your personal email) from Admissions after you applied to WSU with information on how to set up your network ID and password.
