Recreation Rental Program

Rental equipment is available at a reduced cost for your own adventures.

Find gear for activities such as paddling, skiing, snowboarding, snowshoeing, camping and more. Equipment rotates to match the seasons. At times, equipment is packaged with upcoming trips or ticket sales for even better deals.

As all equipment is purchased with S&A Fees, we are able to offer high quality gear at rates lower than local shops.

The Rental Program is housed in the Recreation Office in the Annex. Contact the Recreation Office for more information.

The Recreation Office is now open for rentals! Our procedures have changed. Be sure to review the updated guidelines below.

Customer rental pick-up procedures

  1. Staff will email a copy of these pick-up and return procedures after this phone call
  2. On the day of your reservation, complete the WSU COVID-19 attestation at attestation.wsu.edu
  3. Arrive at the Recreation Office at the Annex building at your designated pick up time. Pick ups can take up to 20-minutes to complete.
  4. You must bring your personal WSU Vancouver Cougar Card to verify affiliation.
  5. Cash or check will be needed for the transaction. We do not take credit cards.
  6. A face covering is required at all times.
  7. Stay in your car for the entirety of the transaction and call the recreation office number upon arrival – 360-546-9532.
  8. Staff will sanitize hands and materials, wear gloves, and bring a rental agreement form and a D-receipt to your car.
  9. Show staff member your COVID-19 attestation results before continuing with reservation.
  10. Staff will verify Cougar Card, and collect cash payment for the transaction and collect filled out rental agreement and D-receipt.
  11. Staff will bring reserved, sanitized items to your trunk.
  12. Any rental equipment instructions and demos will happen outside as needed and on a case-by-case basis following COVID-19 restrictions.
  13. Customers are responsible for all rented equipment and anything outlined on the rental agreement.

Customer rental cancellation and late-return procedures

Customers are encouraged to give at least 48-hour's notice of cancellation by telephone or email. Any rentals that are not picked up by the designated time without notice, will forfeit their reservation. Any customer who is late to return a rental is subject to a late fee equal to the amount of an “additional-day price” of the rented item(s).

  5. All customers are encouraged to fully clean and sanitize rental items before return with Clorox wipes, spray or soap. Please do not use any bleach as it can damage our rental items.
  6. Show staff member your COVID-19 attestation results before continuing with reservation.
  7. Staff will sanitize hands and bring rental agreement to verify items to be returned.
  8. Staff will gather items and put in designated areas/sanitization tubs.
  9. Customers are responsible for all rented equipment and anything outlined on the rental agreement.
  10. Staff will call you if any of your equipment has been damage. You are subject to a replacement fee for any damage that occurred during your rental.
