Washington State University has authorized the National Student Clearinghouse (NSC) as its agent for enrollment and degree verification. The NSC provides self-service enrollment certificates, good student discount certificates and verification for third parties, including loan agencies, employers and background agencies. Official student data are sent to the NSC monthly.
Self-service enrollment certificates
Students can access and print enrollment certificates through the NSC. WSU updates this information securely each month. Certificates are available by logging into the NSC with a WSU network ID and password.
Self-service enrollment verification
Additionally, students may print an unofficial transcript from myWSU (under Academic Records) for proof of enrollment, grades or degree.
Self-service verification options
- Current Enrollment Certificate: Confirms current-term enrollment (available after the second Friday of each term).
- All Enrollment Certificate: Verifies enrollment for all terms (available after the second Friday of each term).
- Advanced Registration Certificate: Confirms enrollment for an upcoming term (available a few months before the term starts). Allow two weeks after enrolling for data to update.
- Good Student Discount Certificate: Provides proof of "good student" status for discounts such as auto insurance.
- Enrollment Notifications: Lists updates sent to loan agencies and other third parties.
Loan deferment
WSU reports enrollment information monthly to the National Student Clearinghouse (NSC) and the National Student Loan Data System (NSLDS). Lenders use this information to verify student enrollment for loan deferment.
The Registrar’s Office does not process or sign loan deferment forms because the NSC manages enrollment verification for WSU. Students can retrieve the following certificates through the NSC:
- Current enrollment certificate: Verifies current-term enrollment
- Advanced registration certificate: Confirms enrollment for an upcoming term
Students can use their WSU network ID and password to log into the NSC to see which loan deferment notifications have been sent to lenders. Note: Full enrollment data is typically available after the second Friday of each term.
Official statement requests
Most enrollment verifications, including certificates, are available through the NSC. Please note, data may take up to two weeks to update.
WSU does not sign loan deferment or good student discount forms. Students can use the NSC self-service option to print enrollment certificates or view verifications sent to loan agencies and other organizations.
When to Contact the Registrar: If an organization requires additional documentation or won’t accept NSC verification (proof required), students may submit an Official Statement Request Form to the Registrar’s Office. Allow three to five business days for processing.
Third-party verification
WSU uses the National Student Clearinghouse to confirm enrollment and degrees for outside organizations. Employers, background check companies and others can verify enrollment and degrees of current and former students through the NSC.
